Question :

A plane is flying horizontally at 98√3 m/s and releases an object which reaches the ground in 10s. The angle made by it with horizontal while hitting the ground is ..

Given :

Initial velocity of plane = 98√3 m/s

Time taken by object to reach the ground = 10s

To Find :

Angle made by projectile path with horizontal while hitting the ground.

Solution :

❖ First of all we need to find vertical and horizontal component of the velocity with which object hit the ground.

A] Horizontal component :

➙ In height to ground projectile, horizontal component of velocity remains constant.

Hence, u cosθ = 983 m/s

B] Vertical component :

➙ In this case, vertical component of velocity changes with time as acceleration due to gravity acts on the object.

» u sinθ = gt

» u sinθ = 9.8 × 10

» u sinθ = 98

Taking the ratio;

➙ u sinθ / u cosθ = 98/98√3

➙ tan θ = 1/√3

➙ θ = 30°

(4) is the correct answer!
