R2 and R3 are connected in series
so ..Rs = R2 + R3
Now Rs and R5 are in parallel
so 1/ Rp = 1 / Rs + 1 / R5
from here u will get the value of Rp
Now R1 , R4 , Rp are connected in series
so...
Total resistance = R1 + R4 + Rp
1 / Rp = 1 / Rs + 1 / R5
1/ Rp = 1 / 6 + 1/ 3
1/ Rp = 1 + 2 / 6
1 / Rp = 3 / 6
so,
Rp = 6 / 3
Rp = 2 ohm
so ..Rs = R2 + R3

1 / Rp = 3 / 6
so,
Rp = 6 / 3
Rp = 2 ohm

Heya
First ...
R(2) and R(3) are in series resistances
=> R(k) = R(2) + R(3) = 6ohm
Now,
R(k) is in parallel resistance with R(5)
Now, R(1) , R(k2) , R(4) are in series and hence,
The method is called reduction of resistances and is helpful for calculating equivalent resistance
