a^{2} + \frac{1}{a^{2}} - 2 - 3a + \frac{3}{a} = 0\\\\ (a-\frac{1}{a} )^{2}  -3 (a - \frac{1}{a} ) = 0\\\\ (a - \frac{1}{a} )(a - \frac{1}{a} - 3 ) = 0\\ \\ \\

Therefore we can say a = ±1 by taking a - 1/a = 0

By taking a - 1/a - 3 as 0 we get :

a - \frac{1}{a} = 3\\\\ \frac{a^{2} - 1}{a} = 3\\\\\\a^{2} - 1 = 3a\\\\\\a^{2} - 3a - 1 = 0

By using Quadratic formula

a = \frac{3 + 2\sqrt{2} }{2} & \frac{3 - 2\sqrt{2} }{2}

So the final 4 values of a are ±1 and (3±2√2)/2

Hope this helps (✿◠‿◠)
