There are many animals, especially marine, which can tolerate changes in temperature, ph, salt concentration etc. to varying limits but die after a threshold is crossed.
Though Warm blooded animals like Birds and mammals are generally regulators but there acts another key factor of size. If these animals are small in size, i.e.high surface area to volume ratio, then they tend to loose more heat. Hence they can regulate till a certain point and then conform.
E.g Shrew.
This is the only reason that small animals can never be found in Polar regions.
