Explanation:

Acceleration of particle is due to gravitational pulling force of earth (It's the only force acting on particle). Hence, particles' acceleration is "g".

Acceleration due to gravity (g) always acts downwards and in case of earth its value is 9.8 m/s². It's independent of mass on which it's acted upon.

Note: In case of object projected very high (height comparable to radius of earth) then acceleration of particle (which is still due to gravity) is not same throughout journey.
