Essay - Gandhian Era in freedom
struggle.

Gandhi ji was a non- violent person and believed in satyagraha. He came from South Africa in 1915 after the first world war .
And organized several satyagraha in Indian ,
in 1916 in Champaran ,Bihar to fight the plantation owners ,in 1917 he organized satyagraha against high rents and land revenue in Kheda district of Gujarat as the peasants were facing plague epidimic and in 1918 ,he organized satyagraha against cotton mill workers in Ahmedabad.

Emboldened with his success he organized satyagraha against the imposed Rowlatt Act ,which gave the government enormous powers to repress political activity and a detention of prisoners without a trial for 2 years .

After the Jallianwala Bagh incident he organized a nationwide satyagraha which he called the non-cooperation movement by bringing Hindu and Muslims under a single umberella in 1921 .It was included by middle class participation ,the students ,teachers and lawyers .But it has several limitations that The Khadi was an expensive cloth and can't be afforded by the poor people.

Non - cooperation movement was called off by the Chauri Chaura incident in 1922.Lord Irwin offered the Dominion Status in 1929 with the Round Table Conference and this caused widespread anger .Gandhiji organized the Civil- Disobedience movement in 1930 with the nationwide participation in it. Salt was seen as the important symbol of this movement.
He had to call off because the movement was turning with violence. He was disappointed and relaunched the movement in 1932 .

Gandhian idea of self help was popular with the tricolour he choose of the red ,white and green colour .

Thus ,the Gandhian Era brought many changes in the freedom struggle .
