a) present age of father = 42 yrs

present age of son = 14 yrs

present of father : present age of son

b)son was twelve years old ( 14-12) 2 years ago

father's age 2 years ago = 42-2 =40 years

ratio= father's age : son's age

= 40:12

= 10:3

c)age of father after 10 yrs = 42+10 = 52 yrs

age of son after 10 yrs = 14+10 = 24 yrs

ratio = father's age : son's age

= 52:24

= 13:6

d) father was 30 years old ( 42-30) 12 years ago

son's age 12 years ago = 14-12 = 2 yrs

ratio = father's age : son's age

= 30:2

= 15:1
