Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was basically a scientist from ISRO who became the 11th president of India between 2002 to 2007 after K R Narayan. He was a devout Muslim who respected other religions equally well. He was a bachelor throughout his lifetime. Dr Kalam was well-known for his simplicity and was respected by the young and elderly alike. He enjoyed interacting with students and saw the future of India through them. The great legend died of sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 83 in Shillong when he was giving a lecture to the students of Indian Institute of Management on the topic Creating a Livable Planet Earth

✨A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s full name is ‘Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam’
✨He was born and raised in Rameswaram,Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering.
✨He spent the next four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile development efforts.
✨Hence he came to be known as the 'Missile Man of India' for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology
✨In 2002, Kalam became the 11th President of India.
✨Kalam engineered the Pokhran-II nuclear tests which catapulted India into the club of Nuclear Powers which were till then only exclusive to five countries.
✨While delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, Kalam collapsed and died from an apparent cardiac arrest on 27 July 2015, aged 83.
