The inhabitants of Indus valley civilization were pretty ahead of their time particularly for their technical knowledge.

- They knew the use of drains and every house was connected to the drain.

- Houses were not allowed to be built haphazardly. Most houses were two storeyed.

- The roads connected all the buildings of the city. They were built both horizontally and vertically.

- They used klin baked bricks where in other parts of world people used sun baked bricks.

- They had invented their own script. It is yet to be deciphered.

- They made beads from steatite, bones, mud.

- They made plain potteries this means they knew the use of potter's wheel.

- An artificial water reservoir has been found at Dholavira.

- World's earliest dockyard has been located at Lothal indicating maritime trade.

- They had great knowledge of metals. They knew the use of Bronze, Silver, gold and copper but not Iron.

- A great bath has been found at Mohenjodaro.

- Large granaries have been found indicating surplus production and that these granaries were used for storing grains.

- Human skulls with a hole in it has been found suggesting practice of brain surgery. It is a process called as Trepanation.

- Terracotta toy of a plough has been found suggesting the use of plough in agriculture.

From the above stated points we can guess how much technically advanced our ancestors were. Don't get shocked when I say 4000- 5000 years ago such a civilization existed in our country.
