Take 1/3x + 2y as a and 1/3x-2y as b

Then solve simultaneously

You will get

2a + 3b = 17/5

10a + 15b = 17...1

And

5a + 1b = 2....2

Multiply by 15

75a + 15b = 30

10a + 15b = 17

65a = 13

a = 1/5

Therefore substitute,

1/3x+2y = 1/5

3x + 2y = 5....3

10(1/5) + 15b = 17

b = 1

Therefore

1/3x-2y = 1

3x - 2y = 1....4

Solve 3 and 4 simultaneously

3x+2y = 5

3x - 2y = 1

6x = 6

x = 1

And

3(1) + 2y = 5

2y = 2

y = 1
