5) Sodium bicarbonate is added, to provide carbon dioxide for photosynthesis to occur.

6) The water in the test tube goes down because the oxygen evolved during the experiment rise to the top hence pushing the water to make space.

7) Oxygen, is evolved during photosynthesis. The gas is tested when the test tube is removed and a glowing match stick is brought near the mouth of the test tube. When the glowing match comes it contact with oxygen it burst into flames.
