 \frac{ - 4a}{2}  + 1 = 0 \\   \frac{ - 4a}{2}  =  - 1 \\  - 4a =  - 1 \times 2 \\  - 4a =  - 2 \\ a =  \frac{ - 2}{ - 4}  \\ a =  \frac{1}{2}
