it was 10°c at 12 pm and decrease with rate of 2°c per hour.

So to reach 8°C it will need to decrease by 2°C

time taken = decrease \\ in \: temprature \div rate

so time taken for 2°C = 2/2 = 1 hour

when at midnight the time taken will be 12 hours so,

12= decrease in temp/rate

12= decrease in temp/2

*cross multipying*

decrease in temp = 12 × 2 = 24°C

there is a 24° decrease in temp

so the final temp at midnight will be

initial temp - decrease = 10 -24 = -14°C
