Given :-

  • Initial Total Number of soldiers = 1200
  • Food for = 28 days.
  • Some Soldiers left = After 4 days.
  • Now, Food lasted = for 32 Days more .

To Find :-

  • How many soldiers left the fort ?

Formula used :-

➺ If M1 men can do W1 work in D1 days working H1 hours per day and M2 men can do W2 work in D2 days working H2 hours per day, then

❦❦ (M1*D1*H1)/W1 = (M2*D2*H2)/W2 ❦❦

Solution :-

From Given Data we have :-

→ M1 = 1200

→ M2 = (1200 -x) , Let x soldiers left.

→ D1 = 24 Days. ( since Soldiers left after 4 days. so, 28 - 4 = 24 days.)

→ D2 = 32 Days.

Putting All values in Above formula now we get :-

1200 * 24 = (1200 - x) * 32

→ 1200 * 24 = 1200 * 32 - 32x

→ 32x = 1200 * 32 - 1200 * 24

→ 32x = 1200( 32 - 24 )

→ 32x = 1200 * 8

→ 32x = 9600

→ x = 300 (Ans.)

Hence, 300 soldiers left the fort.

\huge\tt{PROBLEM:}

  • 1200 soldiers in a fort had enough food for 28 days.
  • After 4 days, some soldiers were transferred to another fort and thus the food lasted now for 32 days more.
  • How many soldiers left the fort?

\huge\tt{SOLUTION:}

Let the number of soldiers left = x

⇒After 4 days, for 1200 soldiers the food would last for 28- 4 = 24 Days

now we have the food that would last for 1200 soldiers= 24 days and for 1200-x soldiers = 32 Days

when the number of soldiers decrease, the food would last for more days. thus there is inverse variation between soldeirs and number of days.

Therefore we get,

⇒(1200−x)×32

⇒x=300

Thus, The number of soldiers left the fort is 300.
