1. mitochondrion

The enzymatic reactions of cellular respiration begin in the cytoplasm, but most of the reactions occur in the mitochondria. Cellular respiration occurs in the double-membrane organelle called the mitochondrion. The folds in the inner membrane are called cristae.

2. in anaerobic respiration yeast breaks down glucose, forming ethanol and carbon dioxide as its waste products.

3.(a)Some examples of anaerobic respiration include alcohol fermentation, lactic acid fermentation and in decomposition of organic matter. The equation is: glucose + enzymes = carbon dioxide + ethanol / lactic acid

(b) Glucose is not broken down completely, produces lactic acid, releases small amount of energy for cells ( not as efficient as aerobic respiration,as glucose molecules aren't broken down completely. ... Build up of lactic acid.

(c) Carbon dioxide reacts with calcium hydroxide solution to produce a white precipitate of calcium carbonate. Limewater is a solution of calcium hydroxide. If carbon dioxide is bubbled through limewater, the limewater turns milky or cloudy white.
