Any two Endangered species:

Giant Panda

Giant Pandas are only found in the wild bamboo forests of Central China. Giant pandas first became endangered in 1990 due to excessive poaching and deforestation. Pandas are endangered mainly due to habitat loss. Humans have cleared much of the bamboo forests that pandas need to survive. Because pandas eat only bamboo, they cannot adapt to live outside of those forests the way other animals do.

The steps taken for panda conservation are by reducing human activities in the panda habitat, controlling poaching, managing bamboo habitat, extending Panda reserve system, removing human settlements etc.

Koala

Koalas live in the eucalyptus forests of southeastern and eastern Australia. They are also found in a range of habitats, from coastal islands and tall eucalypt forests to low inland woodlands.

Koalas are in serious decline suffering from the effects of habitat destruction, domestic dog attacks, bushfires and road accidents.

We can also save koala by taking following steps-

• If you live in koala country, at night lock up your dog.

• In times of drought or in particularly hot weather, place a container of water to be used by koalas.

• Drive slow at night as koalas are nocturnal meaning they are awake at nights and sleep at day time.
