Let the total time be t

Distance travelled in t-1 sec is

\blue{=44.1m}\\Using\: S=ut+\frac{1}{2}at{}^{2}\\since\: the\: stone\: is \:dropped\\ hence\: intial\: \:velocity \:=\:0\\S=0(t-1)+\frac{1}{2}9.8(t-1){}^{2}\\44.1={1}{2}9.8(t-1){}^{2}\\\frac{44.1\times2}{9.8}=(t-1){}^{2}

\frac{88.2}{9.8}=(t-1){}^{2}\\</p><p>0.09=(t-1){}^{2}

(t - 1) =  \sqrt{0.09}  \\ t - 1 = 0.3 \\  \red{t = 1.3sec}

Hence total time for journey is 1.3 sec

Using

S=ut+\frac{1}{2}at{}^{2}\\H=0(1.3)+\frac{9.8\times(1.3){}^{2}}{2}\\H=\frac{16.562}{2}\\\bold\green{H=8.21m}
