GIVEN :-

A man's age is three times his son's age.

10yrs ago he was five times his son age.

TO FIND :- Their present ages

SOLUTION :-

Let the man age be 3x

Then his son's age will be x

Before 10yrs ago means,

x - 10 and 3x - 10

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION ;

3x - 10 = 5(x - 10) \\  \\  \\  \implies 3x - 10 = 5x - 50 \\  \\  \\  \implies 3x - 5x =  - 50 + 10 \\  \\  \\  \implies  - 2x =  - 40 \\  \\  \\  \implies x =  \frac{ - 40}{ - 2}  \\  \\  \\  \implies  \boxed{x = 20}

Now we found that Son's age is 20yrs.

His father age shall be 3x = 3 × 20 = 60yrs.

Both their age are 20yrs and 60yrs (Ans)

VERIFICATION :-

A/Q :-

Before 10yrs Father age is

60 - 10 = 50 yrs

Before 10 yrs Son age is

20 - 10 = 10 yrs

And we can check out that 50 ÷ 10 = 5

Which is the condition of the question .

So, our answer is correct .

Present Age of Aman is three times his Son

Let Age of Son=x years

Then Age of Ajay=3x years

10 years ago

Son Age was=(x-10) years

Ajay Age was=(3x-10) years

Ajay 10 years ago was 5 times age of his son 10 years ago.

Means

Ajay age 10 years ago=5×Son age 10 years ago

3x-10=5(x-10)

3x-10=5x-50

3x-5x=-50+10

-2x=-40

x=-40/-2

x=20

Present Age of Son=x=20 years

Present Age of Ajay=3x=3×20=60 years

Son=20 years

Ajay=60 years
