Let u=1/(x-1) and v=1/(y-2)

Then above equations become

2u+3v=-2 and 4u-9v=1

Multiply 1st equation by 2 and subtract from 2nd equation, you will get

-15v=-3

v=1/5

Put this value of v in any of the above equations

2u+3/5=-2

2u=-2-3/5=-13/5

u=-13/10=1/(x-1)
