1.Area of a square=a*a

Area of small sq.=5*5

Area of small sq.=25m²

Area of big sq.=10*10

Area of big sq.=100m²

∴Area of shaded portion=Area of big sq.-Area of small sq.

∴Area of shaded portion=100m²-25m²=75m²

For questions 2 3 4 use the same method to find the answer.

$23 \times 18 = 314$

area of strip cut out
$25 \times 20 - 23 \times 18 = 500 - 314 = 186$
