x +  \frac{1}{x}  =   2 +  \sqrt{3}  +  \frac{1}{2 +  \sqrt{3} }

Rationalising

 = 2 +  \sqrt{3}  + 2 -  \sqrt{3}



eliminate the opposite

= 4

we know that x=2+root3,so,you rationalise
1 by 2+root3.then the answer will come 2-root3
after doing this add 2+root3 and 2-root3.
your answer will come 4. I hope you understand this.
