Given :-

  • From the following figure, find

       (i) x

       (ii) ∠A and ∠D

Solution :-

  • First of all, the figure ABCD is a parallelogram
  • One of the property of parallelogram is that, the adjacent angles are supplementary. We can make use of that property here
  • ∠A and ∠D are adjacent. So, they are supplementary.

     ⇒ ∠A + ∠D = 180°

    ⇒ x - 7 + 2x - 7 = 180°

    ⇒ 3x - 14 = 180°

    ⇒ 3x = 194

    ⇒ x = \sf\frac{194}{3}

  • Now, ∠D = 2x - 7 = 2(\sf\frac{194}{3}) - 7 = \sf\frac{388}{3} -7 = \frac{367}{3}  = 122.33°
  • ∠A = 180° - ∠D = 180° - 122.33° = 57.77°
