This is because, g is maximum at poles and minimum at equator.So, g will become half in the mid point between the pole and equator,that is R/2

hey see your answer will be 2r by using the formula f=gm1m2by r square

maaaanav: we will keep it constant
maaaanav: f=2m1m2by r square
maaaanav: so the new f will be 2f
maaaanav: now the new r will be 2/r
maaaanav: oh sorry
maaaanav: as the force is 2r
maaaanav: *2r
