Clauses are mainly of two types:

1.)Independent Clause.

= a clause that can form a complete sentence standing alone, having a subject and a predicate.

Examples:-

  • The beach is a lot of fun, yet the mountains are better.
  • A group of us went to the movie, and we agreed it was enjoyable.

2.) Dependent Clause.

= dependent clause is a clause that provides a sentence element with additional information, but which cannot stand as a sentence. A dependent clause can either modify an adjacent clause or serve as a component of an independent clause.

Examples:-

  • When the president arrives.
  • Because I can't wait for the bus.
