by using (a+b)²=a²+b²+2ab

 {( \frac{7}{8} x +  \frac{4}{5} y)}^{2}

( { \frac{7}{8} x})^{2}  + ( { \frac{4}{5} y})^{2}  + 2 \times  \frac{7}{8} x \times  \frac{4}{5} y

 \frac{49}{64} {x}^{2}  +  \frac{16}{25}  {y}^{2}  +  \frac{7}{5} xy

ii. by using (a-b)²=a²+b²-2ab

 {( \frac{2}{7}x -  \frac{7}{5}y })^{2}

( { \frac{2}{5} x})^{2}  +  ({ \frac{7}{5}y) }^{2}  - 2 \times  \frac{2}{7} x \times   \frac{7}{5} y

 \frac{4}{25}  {x}^{2}   + \frac{49}{25}  {y}^{2}  -  \frac{4}{5} xy
