Given:

Total Time = 6 hr

Total Distance = 60 km

Speed on foot = 5 km/h

Speed on bicycle = 2 km/h (Really ?)

To Find:

Distance covered by foot.

How To Find:

This question is related to Time and Distance.

1. Assume a variable and form equation regarding the question.

2. Use A Formulas

3. Simplify the equation and get the answer.

Solution:

let, He covered x km distance by foot.

So, " " " " " " " " " (60 - x) km by bicycle.

Speed on foot and bicycle is 5 km/h and 2 km/h respectively.

According to question,

\dfrac{ \textsf{Distance}}{\textsf{Speed}} =\textsf{Time} \\ \\ \frac{x}{5} + \frac{ 60 - x}{2} = 6 \\ \\ \frac{2x + 5(60 - x)}{10} = 6 \\ \\ \textsf{By Cross Multiply} \\ \\ 2x + 300 - 5x = 60 \\ \\ 2x - 5x = 60 - 300 \\ \\ - 3x = - 240 \\ \\ \cancel{- 3} x=\cancel{ - 240} \\ \\ x = 80

Athlete covered 80 km on foot.

[Although Total Distance was 60 km]
