Given that Sanjay can lay railway track between two given stations in 16 days.
Work done by Sanjay in 1-day = 1/16 ------ (1)
Given that Dhananjay can do the same job in 12 days.
Work done by Dhananjay in 1-day = 1/12 ---- (2)
Given that with the help of Ram they did the work in 4 days.
Work done by (Sanjay + Dhananjay + Ram) in 1-day = 1/4 ----- (3)
Now,
Work done by Ram in 1- day = 1/4 - (1/16 + 1/12)
= 1/4 - (1 * 3 + 1 * 4/(48)
= 1/4 - (3 + 4/48)
= 1/4 - (7/48)
= 1/4 - 7/48
= 1 * 12 - 7/48
= 12 - 7/48
= 5/48.
Therefore Ram can do the work in 48/5 days = 9(3/5) days.
Hope this helps!
