Note:

  • When bringing one term to another side, its sign (-ve/+ve) will change.
  • When bringing a +ve term to another side, it becomes -ve.
  • When bringing a -ve term to another side, it becomes +ve.

1. 3x - 2 = 2x + 3

Bringing all the like terms to one side and making necessary sign changes,

3x - 2x = 3 + 2

1x = 5

x = 5/1

x = 5

2. 2x - 1 = 14 - x

Bringing all the like terms to one side and making necessary sign changes,

2x + x = = 14 + 1

3x = 15

x = 15/3

x = 5

3. 3x + 4 = 4/3x + 9

Bringing all the like terms to one side and making necessary sign changes,

3x - 4/3x = 9 - 4

LCM = 3

3/1x = 3/1x*3/3 = 9/3x

9/3x - 4/3x = 9 - 4

5/3x = 5

5x = 5*3

5x = 15

x = 15/5

x = 3

Hope it helps :)
