Let the number be x and y.

Given that sum of two numbers is 95.

= > x + y = 95   ----- (1)

Given that one exceeds the other by 15.

= > x = y + 15   ----- (2)

Substitute (2) in (1), we get

= > y + 15 + y = 95

= > 2y + 15 = 95

= > 2y = 80

= > y = 40.

Substitute y = 40 in (2), we get

= > x = y + 15

= > x = 40 + 15

= > x = 55.

Therefore, the two numbers are 55 and 40.
