Explanation:

24.

(i)

equivalent resistance:

30 + (10|  |20) \\ 30 +  \frac{200}{10 + 20}  \\ 30 +  \frac{20}{3}  \\  \frac{110}{3}  \\ 36.667ohm

total current flowing in the circuit.

using \: ohms \: law \\ i =  \frac{v}{r}  \\  \frac{40}{ \frac{110}{3} }  \\  \frac{40 \times 3}{110}  \\  \frac{12}{11}

(ii)

voltage across each resistance.

for R1 voltage is V1.

v1 = i \times r1 \\  \:  \:  \frac{12}{11}  \times 30 \\  \frac{360}{11}  \\  = 32.72

for R2 and R3. voltage are V2 and V3.

as this two are connected in parallel. V2=V3.

equivalent resistance for R2 and R3. is 20/3

using ohms law. V2=V3=iR(eq)

 \frac{12}{11}  \times  \frac{20}{3}  \\  \frac{80}{11}  \\ 7.27

current across R1 is 12/11.=1.09A

current across R2 is I2=7.27/10=0.727A

current across R3 is I3=7.27/20=0.363A
