According to the condition,

x+y = 12

x = (12-y)  ---- (1)

After interchanging it will be 10y + x.

Interchanging the digits exceeds the original number by 54

=> 10y + x = 10x + y + 54

=> 9x - 9y +54 =0

=> 9(x - y + 6) =0

=> 12-y - y + 6 =0 [from (1)]

=> -2y +18 =0

=> y = 9

Therefore x = 12 -y

=> 12 - 9 = 3

Therefore the original no is :

10x + y

= 10*3 + 9

= 39
