Answer:

x = -0.75, y = 3.125

Step-by-step explanation:

Given Equations are:

(i) 0.5x - 0.2y = 1

(ii) 3x + 0.4y = -1

On solving (i) * 6 & (ii), we get

3x - 1.2y = -6

3x + 0.4y = -1

--------------------

         1.6y = 5

             y = 5/1.6

            y = 3.125.

Substitute y = 3.125 in (ii), we get

⇒ 0.4y + 3x = -1

⇒ 0.4(3.125) + 3x = -1

⇒ 1.25 + 3x = -1

⇒ 3x = -1 - 1.25

⇒ 3x = -2.25

⇒ x = -0.75

Therefore, the values are x = -0.75 & y = 3.125

Hope it helps!

kazisohabwn: According to my book the answers are incorrect
siddhartharao77: what is correct answer
kazisohabwn: x = -3/4,,,y = 25/8
siddhartharao77: Actually, i wrote in fractional. But the answer is in decimal part. x = -3/4 = -0.75 and y = 25/8 = 3.125..Thats it
kazisohabwn: Okay... Thnk you very much
