i)   (x-1/x)² = (3)²

   ∴x² + 1/x² - 2 = 9

    ∴ x² + 1/x² = 11

ii) (x² + 1/x²)² = (11)²              

   ∴ x⁴ + 1/x⁴ +2 = 121

      x⁴ + 1/x⁴ = 123
