Let 'theta' be x

To prove: tanx - cotx = 2sin^2x - 1/sinx.cosx

Proof:

LHS= tanx - cosx

=> sinx/cosx - cotx/sinx ( since tanx=sinx/cosx and cotx=cosx/sinx)

Cross mutiplying

=>Sin^2x-cos^2x/sinx.cosx

=>Sin^2x-(1-sun^2x)/sinx.cosx (since cos^2x=1-sin^2x}

=> sin^2x - 1 +sin^2x/sinx.cosx

=> 2sin^2x - 1/sinx.cosx

Hence prooved
