The cost of pen = Rs (4p - q)
The cost of pencil = Rs (2p - 2q)
Hence, the total cost
= Rs [(9p+3q)+(4p-q)+(2p-2q)]
= Rs [9p + 3q + 4p - q + 2p - 2q]
= Rs [15p + 0q]
= Rs 15p

If you take all the qs together, then we will get 3q -q-2q= 3q - 3q = 0 [Hope this could help]
