A) An electrolyte is a substance that produces an electrically conducting solution when dissolved in a polar solvent, such as water. The dissolved electrolyte separates into cations and anions, which disperse uniformly through the solvent.

B) The deflection in the compass needle shows that the current is flowing through the circuit.

C) The bulb didn't glow in the first case because there wasn't enough current in the circuit for the bulb to glow. When one more cell was added, the current became strong and the bulb glowed.
