Factorise the following :

a). 6ab - b² + 12ac - 2bc

Solution :

=> 6ab - b² + 12ac - 2bc

=> 6ab + 12ac - b² - 2bc

=> 6a(b + 2c) - b(b + 2c)

=> (b + 2c)(6a - b)

Answer : (b + 2c)(6a - b)

b). 9(2a - b)² - 4(2a - b) - 13

Solution :

Substituting x = 2a - b , the given polynomial will reduce to : 9x² - 4x - 13

=> 9x² - 4x - 13

=> 9x² - 13x + 9x - 13

=> x(9x - 13) + (9x - 13)

=> (9x - 13)(x + 1)

Now ,

Putting x = 2a - b , we get ;

=> [9(2a - b) - 13](2a - b + 1)

=> (18a - 9b - 13)(2a - b + 1)

Answer : (18a - 9b - 13)(2a - b + 1)
