Answer :-

To find :-

  • Value of x
  • Value of y

Solution :-

The two equations are :-

x-2y = 4 _________________________( i )

x - y = 3 _________________________( ii )

Solving equation (i) , we get :-

x - 2y = 4

➡ x = 2y + 4 ____________________ ( iii )

Solving equation ( ii ) we get :-

x - y = 3

➡x = 3 + y ______________________ ( iv )

Putting equation ( iii ) in eqn ( iv ) we get :-

2y + 4 = 3 + y [ Since both are equal to x that means both the equations are equal ]

➡ 2y - y = 3 - 4

➡ y = -1

After putting the value of y in eqn ( ii ) we get,

x = 3 + y

➡ x = 3 + ( -1 )

➡ x = 3 - 1

➡ x = 2

Therefore , the value of y is -1 and x is 2 .

Note :-

★ The process used here to solve the equation is substitution method and equating the two equations

★Substitution method we used by substituting the value of y and finding x

★ Equating the two equations that is when we equated equation (i) and ( ii ) and finding the value of y
