shekhar gives a quarter of his sweets to renu and then gives 5 sweets to raji. he was left with 7 sweets. how many sweets he had?

let he had x sweets

a quarter = 1/4

he gave 1/4 of total sweets to renu

so, x - x/4

then he gave 5 sweets and left with 7 so,

x - x/4 - 5 = 7

3x/4 = 12

3x = 48

x = 48/3

x = 16

he had 16 sweets
