Let the breadth be X metres .

Then, length should be X + 4 metres .

Perimeter of plot(given) = 160 metres .

Formula for perimeter = 2(L+B) units

⇒2(X+X+4) = 160

⇒2(2X+4)=160

⇒2X + 4 = 160/2

2X = 80-4

⇒X = 76/2 = 38

Thus, breadth is found to be 38 metres

Thus , length = X + 4 = 38 + 4 = 42 metres .

Answer : Hence, the dimensions of the plot are : 42 by 38 metres,i.e -- length = 42 metres and breadth = 38 metres.
