✺ Given :

  • a is six times as as b

i.e., a=6b

✺ To Find :

  • what percent'b' is less than 'a'

✺ Explanation :

According to the question , a is six times as large as b

i.e., a=6b

a=6b

b=\dfrac{a}{6}

Now ,

'b' is less than of 'a' by

= (a-b)

=6b-b

=5b

= 5\times\dfrac{a}{6}

= \dfrac{5a}{6}

✺ Therefore :

'b' is less than of 'a' by the percentage of

\dfrac{\dfrac{5\cancel{a}}{6}}{\cancel{a}}\times100\%

\dfrac{500}{6}\:\%

\boxed{\large{\dfrac{250}{3}}}\:\%

Hence ,

'b' is less than of 'a' by the percentage of = \dfrac{250}{3}\:\%

✺ To Find :

  • what percent'b' is less than 'a'

✺ Explanation :

According to the question , a is six times as large as b ,

i.e., a-b=6b

✏ a=7b

b=\dfrac{a}{7}

Now ,

'b' is less than of 'a' by

= (a-b)

=7b-b

=6b

= 6\times\dfrac{a}{7}

= \dfrac{6a}{7}

✺ Therefore :

'b' is less than of 'a' by the percentage of

\dfrac{\dfrac{6\cancel{a}}{7}}{\cancel{a}}\times100\%

\dfrac{600}{7}\:\%

\boxed{\large{\dfrac{600}{7}}}\:\%
