  \large{\sf{Question}}

Convert 3 dm 2 cm 5 mm into millimeters :-

   \large\underline\frak{Answer}

 =  \red{ \rm{325 mm}}

Solution

We have to convert 3 dm 2 cm 5 mm into mm , note that among all digit 5 is already in terms of 'mm' the only digits we have to convert is 3 and 2 which are in dm and cm respectively.

We know that ,

: \dashrightarrow  \sf1 \: dm = 100 \: mm \\ : \dashrightarrow   \sf 1 \: cm = 10 \: mm

Hence ,

  • 3 dm = 3 × 100 mm = 300 mm
  • 2 cm = 2 × 10 mm = 20 mm

Now , we have all digits in mm, thus we will now add up all the digits .

 =  \bf300 \: mm + 20mm + 5mm \\  = \rm 325mm

Additional Information

In order to convert a digit in any particular unit from other unit follow the table as shown below

Metric Conversion Table .

 \boxed {\begin{array}{c|c } \tt1& \tt kilo \\  \tt2& \tt hecto \\ \tt 3&  \tt \: deca \\ \tt4& \tt \: metre \\  \tt5& \tt \: deci \\  \tt6& \tt \: centi \\  \tt7& \tt \: milli\end{array}}

  • As we move below from one unit to another the difference between those units decide the number of zeros like from km to hm , the no. of zeros will be 1 i.e 1 km = 10 hm.
  • Also , when we move downwards we will simply perform multiplication while on moving upwards we will perform division.
