I'm an Indian who has travelled extensively, both domestically and internationally, so I'll answer this question in two parts

1. Andaman and Nicobar Islands- This is quite easily the closest an Indian can get to having an international experience without leaving India. These islands are closer to Burma and Indonesia than they are to India. The accommodation and food is below average, but the beaches, forests and the sheer seclusion from the Hustle bustle of India make this experience worth it.

2. Jammu and Kashmir - Tensions in recent years have made tourist access to the valley difficult. When I visited the valley though, it was experiencing the most peaceful time of its history. The militancy was at an all time low and the tourism was at an all time high. The Gondola, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Dal Lake, food and everything else about this place makes it worth a visit. Let's hope peace soon returns to the valley.

3. Udaipur and Jaipur- Both cities are the most culturally beautiful ones I've visited. Udaipur's lakes and palaces are mesmerising, and Jaipur's history and its food makes it worth a visit.

4. Hyderabad- The city of Nizams is the most vibrant city of South India. The food is amongst the best in India, there are plenty of touristy places and the city never sleeps.

5. Northeast India- Northeast India is paradise. The sights are breathtaking, the people are friendly and the culture is vibrant. Sikkim was especially memorable.

Honourable mentions- <the place where you stay>(I didn't mention it because I live here, but It's the only place in India I can live in. It has become a part of me), Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai
