Summary:

The author Amrita Pritam describes the role of women in different situations and circumstances in a though provoking way. The poet portrays herself as the character and is subjective

In the first stanza, she describes that she had come in this world as a 'Kam Kanya' and 'Kal Kanya'. The first role symbolizes affection and the second role is a symbol of a destroyer.

The second stanza is about how a woman passes through four stages as a newly born, in youth, a grown up and as an old one. She explains that in many temples a woman is worshiped as a Goddess and she is much respected but also in many places a woman is forced to live a disreputable life as a prostitute and also in some who in slum areas.

In the last stanza, the author exquisitely describes the position of a woman in a society. She concluded that a woman has two different kinds of dealings but she manages to find her own existence as she is the daughter of Dravida.
