Hello !
First of all you should understand the meaning of the word LCM
It stands for Least Common Multiple.
It is that smallest number which can be divided completely for given set of values .
It is helpful in solving the additions and the subtractions of the Fractions.
The first eg is here :
Ok lets take yours
1/1.5 + 1/5
⇒ 10/15 + 1/5
⇒ 2/3 + 1 / 5
Here the denominators are not same so we have to take the L . C . M of the denominators 5 and 3 else we would have added them simply .
Now , How to take the LCM
See,
First of all write the two numbers side by side
3 ║ 3 , 5
5 ║ 1 , 5
║ 1 , 1
Now both the numbers are reduced to 1
Now the numbers which are written on the Leftmost side i .e 3 and 5
We will multiply them to obtain the LCM
LCM = 3 × 5 = 15
⇒ ((15/3 × 2(Numerator) ) + ( 15/5 × 1 (Numerator)))/15
⇒ (10 + 3 )/15
⇒ 13 / 15 Ans.
This is the answer !
I hope u got it if not u can ask me in the inbox!
