In mathematics, a set is a collection of distinct objects, considered as an object in its own right. For example, the numbers 2, 4, and 6 are distinct objects when considered separately, but when they are considered collectively they form a single set of size three, written {2, 4, 6}.

In day- to -day life, we generally talk about a group or a collection of object. e.g. of a bouquet of flower, a herd of crows, a flock of bird, a pack of cards, etc.

1. The well defined collection of object is called a 'set'.

2. Capital English letter A,B,C etc. are used to denote a set.
3. The individual object of the set is known as the member or an element of the set.
4. The element of the set are denoted by lowercase letter a,b,c etc.
