Step-by-step explanation:

we know that a square has 4 sides and it's perimeter = sum of 4 sides/4 x side

perimeter = 48

48 = 4 x side

48/4 = side

12 = side

Now we have got the side.

so, area of a square= side x side

12 x 12 = 144 cm²

I hope it helps you!

 \tt \: perimeter  = 48 \: cm \\  \tt \: formula \:  =  \:  sides \:  \div 4 \\  \tt = 48 \div 4  = 12 \\  \tt 1 \: side \:  = 12 \: cm \\  \tt \: now \: find \: the \: area \:   \\  \tt \: side \:  = 12 \\  \tt \: formula \: of \: area \:  \\  \tt =  \: side \times side  \\  \tt12 \times 12 = 144 \\  \tt \: so \: the \: area \: is \:  = 144cm
