Answer:

Explanation:

a) The most reactive metal in the table is represented by Z. This is because the reactivity is highest for the alkali metal and halogen group and it increases down the group as the ionisation potential decreases down the group and hence, energy needed to lose the electron becomes less. Since, the first element given is lithium, we can say Group 1 is alkali metal and hence, Z is the answer.

The valency of lithium is 1. Since, the valencies of elements in the same group are same, the valency of Z is 1.

b) The least reactive non metal is Neon as it is a noble gas and has a complete outermost octet and hence, it has the least tendency to form a compound.

c) Since L, Q, R, T form the group which is just before the noble gas, we can say that the element represent group Halogens.

d) One element of group 2 is Magnesium. Since, the group is next to alkali metal group, we can say the group 2 refers to alkaline earth metal.

One element of group 3 is Aluminium. Since, the question here shows only main - group elements and the group number corresponds to the number of electrons in the valence shell, we can say that group 3 is the boron family group.

One element of group 5 is Nitrogen. Since, the group 5 lies next to the carbon family group, we can say it is the Pnicogen group and hence, the number of valence electrons are 5.

One element from group 6 is Oxygen. This is provided in the table.

e) The valency of Y is 1 since it has 1 valence electron and is a metal. The valency of G is 2 since it is a non metal and belongs to group 6, the valency will be 8-6 =2. Thus, the formula of the compound is Y₂G. The nature of the compound is that since, it is an ionic compound, it is of hard, crystalline compound.
