No. of electric bulbs=600

No. of Defective bulbs=20

So, the probability that the chosen bulb is defective is 20/600 or 1/30

So, option c 1/30 is the answer

question:

There are 600 electric bulbs in a box out of which 20 bulbs are defective. If one bulb is chosen at random from the box, what is the probability the chosen bulb is defective?

solution:

c

Given:

There are 600 electric bulbs in a box out of which 20 bulbs are defective.

To find:

If one bulb is chosen at random from the box, what is the probability the chosen bulb is defective?

step by step explanation:

probability the chosen bulb is defective = defective bulbs/no of bulbs.

 \sf probability \:  the \:  chosen  \: bulb  \: is \:  defective =  \frac{20}{600}

\sf probability \:  the \:  chosen  \: bulb  \: is \:  defective =  \frac{  \cancel{20}}{ \cancel{600} }

\sf probability \:  the \:  chosen  \: bulb  \: is \:  defective =  \frac{1}{30}

∴ answer is 1/30

therefore:

probability the chosen bulb is defective = 1/30 so , option C is correct.
