Answer:

To Find:- x and y

Solution:-

∠A+∠B+∠C=180°(sum of all interior angles of a triangle are supplementary) (here including total angle of ∠B and ∠C)

Also AB=AC

if so,then

∠B=∠C(if two opposite sides of a triangle are equal then their opposite angles are also equal)

thus

let them be a

∠A+a+a=180

40+2a=180

2a=180-40=140

a=140/2

a=70°

therefore

∠B(total measure)=70°=∠C(total measure)

and now

Go to ∆PBC

where

∠P+∠B+∠C=180° (sum of all interior angles of a triangle are supplementary)

140+x+x=180

2x=180-140=40

x=40/2=20°

therefore

x=20°

also we have to find y

Angle y is in ∆ABC

in ∆PBC, it's 20°

therefore in ∆ABC,angle y=70-20=50°

Therefore the angles are

Of ∆ABC

∠BAC=40°

∠ABC=70°

∠ACB=70°

Of ∆PBC

∠BPC=140°

∠BCP=20°

∠CBP=x=20°

and also

∠ACP=y=50°

hope it helps
